1.  JESUS the friend of sinners died
 
     The Children of Salem doth weep 

     Thick darkness sets and veils the skies 

     And suddenly, the earth did quake.


2.  Behold the mercy and the love

     Of the king of glory for man 

     Behold what joy doth come our way 

     Jesus who died doth rise again.


3.  Then, fear ye not, O saints of God 

     Tell how the Lord our King doth reign 

     Sing of His victory o‘er the foe

     Tell now He met and conquered death.


4.  Proclaim: “Thou art our king for aye" 

     Thou who art born to save us all

     Ask death and say "where is thy sting? 

     And grave, “where is thy victory".  Amen
